Haizea Bilbao celebrates the second edition of Haziak Haizean with a day focused on biodiversity and the conservation of native species

The initiative promoted environmental awareness, family participation and collaboration with local organisations through activities focused on protecting biodiversity

Haizea Bilbao held the second edition of Haziak Haizean on Sunday, 25 October 2026, at Lourdes Etxaniz Park in Zierbena. The event brought together more than 75 people, including Haizea employees, their families and residents. The day took place in a friendly and engaging atmosphere, helping to strengthen the relationship between the company and the local community.

The event was designed to promote biodiversity, encourage family participation and strengthen ties between Haizea and the local community. Throughout the day, participants took part in environmental craft workshops focused on building and decorating birdhouses and insect hotels. There were also activities to help participants learn more about the trees and vegetation in the park, alongside a variety of games for children.

The initiative was organised in collaboration with Zierbena Town Council and SF34. Together with SF34, Haizea also presented an upcycling project that transforms unused workwear from Haizea Bilbao into new garments and accessories, promoting the reuse of materials and the circular economy.

As a result of the event, participants built three insect hotels and twenty-one birdhouses, which will soon be installed in the park. The initiative will be complemented by information signs identifying the different types of trees found in this natural area.

Through initiatives such as Haziak Haizean, Haizea continues to promote activities that combine environmental awareness, family participation and collaboration with the local community, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and to creating shared value in the communities where it operates. Held around International Day against Climate Change, this edition once again highlighted the importance of involving people in protecting and preserving the natural environment.
