Haizea Breizh, the French subsidiary of the Basque industrial group Haizea Wind Group, has reached a major milestone with the production of its 100th offshore wind turbine tower on the Brest polder. Since beginning operations in 2022, the company has assembled these structures in partnership with SPIE Industrie and Aguado France, reinforcing its central role in the development of offshore wind power in France.
Located on a 3.8-hectare plot at the EMR terminal in the port of Brest, Haizea Breizh was created to support the rapidly growing French offshore wind market. The tower sections, manufactured and painted at Haizea’s Bilbao facility, are transported to Brest for the assembly of internal components such as ladders, platforms, and cables. These operations are carried out horizontally in purpose-built facilities on the Brest site.
This milestone also marks the success of the partnership between Haizea Breizh and SPIE Industrie, first initiated for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
The two companies are continuing their collaboration on the upcoming offshore projects of the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier and Dieppe Le Tréport, reaffirming their commitment to France’s energy transition.
“Reaching the milestone of 100 wind turbine towers produced on the Brest polder is a testament to the strength of our collaboration with Haizea Breizh. This success shows our shared ability to meet the technical demands of French offshore wind projects while contributing to the development of a center of excellence in Brittany. Our combined expertise enables us to effectively support the energy transition,” said Xavier de Noblens, Operations Director for Marine and Atlantic Industry at SPIE Industrie.
“This milestone marks a significant step in our industrial development. Our collaboration with SPIE Industrie has created a high-performing industrial synergy that supports the energy transition, boosts the local economy, and strengthens the appeal of the port of Brest as a key hub for offshore wind in France,”
added Michael Farenc, Chief Financial Officer of Haizea Wind Group, and Jean-Maxime Pape, Site Manager at Haizea Breizh.
With the symbolic achievement of 100 towers produced, Haizea Breizh reinforces its position as an industrial pillar in the French offshore wind sector while strengthening the port of Brest’s status as a strategic hub for marine renewable energy.
